(GREAT FALLS, MONTANA)--The Great Falls Explorers scored the first 15 points of Tuesday night's game with the Oklahoma Cavalry in front of a near-capacity crowd at Fairfield High School, and held an 18-2 lead before the visitors got their high-octane offense untracked and stormed back to cut the home team lead to 28-21 at the end of the first quarter. Former Boston Celtics forward Junior Burrough paced the Explorers with eight first quarter points, while swingman Mike Peeples posted ten. Daryan Selvy tossed in nine first quarter points for the Cavs. Oklahoma took the second period 37-24, and Great Falls returned the favor by taking the third period 33-23 behind Burrough's nine points and guard Marlyn Bryant's 12, including two three-pointers. But, the Explorers went cold in the fourth and the Cavs got timely shooting from reserve guard Adam Spanich who hit two threes. The final was 112-106 for the visitors, who won their tenth straight CBA game while halting the Explorers three-game winning streak. Oklahoma won the quarter points 5-2.
Junior Burrough took game-high scoring honors with 28 points and ten rebounds for his fifth triple double of the season, and added six assists, three blocked shots and two steals. Power forward Jason Clark posted his fourth triple double with 11 points and 16 boards. Peeples and Bryant added 20 points each and point guard Maurice Carter chipped in with 16. Selvy led the Cavs with 27 points, followed by Curtis Haywood with 20 and Tony Key with 19.
Great Falls makes the two-hour drive down I-15 to take on the Butte Daredevils Friday night before coming home to host the Albany Patroons Sunday and Monday. Oklahoma returns home for a four-game stand with the Atlanta Krunk and league-leading Yakama Sunkings.
