Rocky Raccoon
Going Global

Great Falls, MT – May 8, 2007 -
After a successful year
entertaining fans of all ages as
the lovable blue mascot of the
Great Falls Explorers, Rocky
Raccoon has received a call-up.
Rocky’s alter ego, Paul Clark,
has been named as the official
mascot of the Harlem
Globetrotters, Globie, for their
South American tour that starts
next month.
Globie is
known as the World’s most famous
mascot as the character has
entertained more than 100
million fans over the past few
decades. As Globie, Clark will
entertain fans at nearly 40
events over the course of about
30 days. Clark was chosen for
the position after sending video
of his Rocky Raccoon
performances to the
Globetrotters and being invited
to a try out in Phoenix.
Globetrotters’ officials say
that hundreds of performers
audition for the position of
Globie but only as few as a five
or six get the chance to
represent the team.
“It has been
a lot of fun so far and I am
looking forward to helping the
Globetrotters entertain the
people of South America,” says
Clark. “I hope to learn even
more about being a mascot so I
can bring more fun and
entertainment back to the
Explorers for next season.”
“We were
lucky to find Paul,” remarked
Ryan Acra, General Manager of
the Explorers, “but we’re glad
we did. He has been wonderful to
work with and a great sport. We
wish him well during his
trip to South America and can’t
wait to get him back home to
start working with us again.”
Clark will
also be heading to China in
August to entertain even more
fans as Rocky the Raccoon. He
will be joining a team of CBA
stars such as former Explorers
Keith Salscheider and Travis
Garrison as they play teams from
the Chinese Basketball
Association.
“I never
would have thought a wrestler
from Cascade would get to see
the world through basketball,”
Clark joked. “I owe a lot to the
Ryan, Becky (Acra) and the rest
of the Explorers.” |
