September 19, 2007 – The Great Falls Explorers in association with the Great Falls Explorers Foundation and Explorers’ Booster Club have announced a new initiative to work with local schools and youth organizations. CBA Choices will focus on three different areas including education, drug awareness, and community outreach. The Explorers’ players, staff, and booster club are excited to work with Great Falls youth in an effort to build a stronger future for the community and our children.
The education area of CBA Choices will include a reading program, the Explorer B.U.G. program, as well as efforts in physical education programs. Explorers players and staff plan to visit area schools to read and listen to students while donating books to classrooms and libraries with the help of the Explorers’ Booster Club. The Explorer B.U.G. (Bring Up Grades) program will offer students incentives to attain and maintain higher grades. Students will have the chance to get tickets to games as well as attend special autograph sessions and team get-togethers. The Explorers will also offer their time to P.E. programs throughout the community to show the importance of physical fitness.
The Drug Awareness arm of CBA Choices will bring the Explorers in contact with other drug awareness organization in the community. Explorers’ players will talk to students about the importance of staying away from drugs and how their lives have been affected by their choices when it came to drugs and alcohol.
The Explorers plan to be very active in the community, along with the current efforts of the Explorers’ Booster Club; the team will be very active in the city and region as possible. The team will conduct clinics throughout the area and will work with organizations to help clean up parks and outdoor basketball courts.
“CBA Choices is a way for our players and staff to show the community how much we appreciate everything they do for us, while giving something back to our fans and sponsors,” commented Explorers’ General Manager Ryan Acra. “We are excited to lay the groundwork for a long and positive relationship with Great Falls and all of the communities in our area.”
The Explorers have a number of programs in place for charities and non-profit organizations that help in fund raising and community support to go along with CBA Choices.
